A growing coalition of more than 300 stakeholders is supporting a “clean” continuing resolution to restore federal funding and prevent a government shutdown. The proposal calls for a short-term funding bill without additional policy riders or partisan conditions.

Supporters of the measure include advocacy groups, local leaders, and organizations representing workers and small businesses. They argue that stable government funding is essential to protect essential services and maintain public confidence.

A clean continuing resolution, often called a CR, allows the government to keep operating while Congress negotiates a long-term budget. By removing policy riders and unrelated amendments, the measure focuses solely on ensuring funding continuity.

Lawmakers from both sides have taken note of the broad support. Many see the growing momentum as a positive sign of unity in a deeply divided Congress. The effort reflects a shared recognition that repeated shutdown threats harm citizens, delay public services, and create uncertainty for federal employees and contractors.

Observers view the bipartisan response as an encouraging shift toward practical governance. Instead of using funding deadlines as political leverage, the clean government funding approach emphasizes stability and cooperation. This constructive step could set a precedent for future budget negotiations.

Experts also note the economic benefits of avoiding shutdowns. Even brief funding gaps can cost billions of dollars, slow down projects, and erode trust in government reliability. A clean CR helps maintain federal programs, protect small businesses dependent on federal contracts, and keep the economy running smoothly.

The White House has welcomed the growing support for this initiative. Officials stress that continuing essential operations without disruption protects national security, healthcare, and infrastructure projects that depend on consistent funding.

While the final outcome depends on legislative action, the unified backing of a clean continuing resolution signals optimism for a more stable and cooperative approach to governing. The push demonstrates that when leaders and stakeholders work together, even divisive budget debates can find a path forward.
