Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London on 6 September.
Police were called to Cockfosters Parade in Barnet after reports that a man in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm. Udogie was reportedly with a friend at the time. The suspect, a 31-year-old man, was arrested two days later on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
There is no suggestion that the man involved is Udogie’s agent. Tottenham said they have been “providing support for Destiny and his family” since the incident.
Udogie did not miss any matches as a result and returned for Spurs’ 13 September win over West Ham, coming off the bench. His name was publicly revealed in Italy shortly before Tottenham’s Champions League fixture against Copenhagen, in which he started.
