Juventus sack Igor Tudor after eight-game winless streak

Juventus have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor following an eight-match winless run in all competitions, the club confirmed on Monday.

“Juventus FC announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as coach of the men’s first team, along with his staff,” read a club statement, issued a day after their 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Massimo Brambilla, the reserve team coach, will take temporary charge.

Tudor, who replaced Thiago Motta in March, became Juventus’s first foreign manager since Didier Deschamps in 2006–07. A former Juve defender, he won two Serie A titles as a player and helped the club reach a Champions League final.

After guiding Juventus to fourth place and Champions League qualification last season, Tudor’s second campaign started well with three straight wins. However, the team’s form collapsed with five consecutive draws followed by defeats to Como, Real Madrid, and Lazio.

“I think we prepared for the match in the right way, but we’re still missing something,” Tudor said after Sunday’s loss.

It marks Juventus’s earliest managerial change in a season since 1969, when Luis Carniglia was replaced by Ercole Rabitti. The club, now winless in four games without scoring, sit eighth in Serie A — six points behind leaders Napoli — and face Udinese next.
